Week 2 of Splash gets off to a quick start. The second half of the celebrity contestants are ready to dive! But first, host Charissa Thompson
shares sad news. Contestant Chuy Bravo
suffered an injury and will be unable to continue on in the competition.
"Don't worry world," says Chuy. "I'll be back for Season 2!"
It turns out that another celebrity contestant has been training on her own for six weeks in case an alternate diver would be needed...Brandi Chastain! Brandi, a professional soccer player, made history during the 1999 Women's World Cup final when she helped lead the U.S. to victory.
Brandi said she was ready to be put in the game, and it's a good thing because she's the first diver of the night!
Brandi impresses the judges with her hurdle approach to the dive, and judge David Boudia awards her an 8.00. Judge Steve Foley gives her a 6.00, praising her "unbelievable height." Her average score is 7.00.
Second up is actor Drake Bell, who has a lot of natural ability, according to coach Greg Louganis. Drake dives a forward one-and-a-half somersault off the 7-meter (23-foot) platform. Steve gives him an 8.00, and David gives him a 7.50, for an average score of 7.75.
Then it's former Baywatch star Nicole Eggert's turn. Nicole is emotional after a scary fall in rehearsals, but she fights her fears to return to the platform for the show. Nicole gets an 8.00 from David and a 7.50 from Steve, for an average of 7.75.
Detroit Lions defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh is a huge presence on the board, and he impresses the judges by doing an inward-facing dive. He gets a 6.50 from Steve and a 7.00 from David, which results in a 6.75 average.
The last diver of the night is The Girls Next Door star Kendra Wilkinson. Kendra's fear of heights has been a source of tension between her and Greg during training and she loses her nerve once she's on the board. Kendra finally pushes through the fear to make the dive, with the help of her son cheering her on from the audience.
Kendra's bravery pays off and she gets an 8.50 from David and a 7.00 from Steve. Her average is 7.75, which ties her for first place with Drake and Nicole!
After all the celebrity competitors have dived, it's time to find out who's in the dive-off!
After audience scores are tallied, Kendra and Nicole are safe right off the bat. Host Joey Lawrence informs Nicole she has the highest overall score of the night!
That leaves Brandi, Ndamukong, and Drake in jeopardy. Drake is definitely safe, so Brandi and Ndamukong will face off.
Brandi and Ndamukong perform the same dive, making it easier for the judges to decide who to save based on dive quality. They pick Brandi, sending Ndamukong back to work with the Lions.
