It's Week 3, and the theme is team dives! The divers from the team with the lowest combined judges' and audience score will compete against each other in the dive-off at the end of the show.
The night's first team is odd couple Kareem Abdul-Jabbar
and Louie Anderson
Kareem and Louie dive backwards off the 5-meter platform.
They dive backwards from the 5-meter (16 feet) platform, and earn praise from judges David Boudia and Steve Foley. Because they were out of sync, David awards them a 6.00 and Steve gives them a 5.50.
Kareem and Louie's Average Score: 5.75
Host Joey Lawrence interviews Kareem and Louie after their dive.
Steve Foley: "There was a lot of body weight going through that water and I've never seen a tsunami in a dive pool before, so that was pretty phenomenal."
Louie Anderson: "You mean a Lou-nami don't you?"
The second team to dive is "Team Mom," Brandi Chastain and Nicole Eggert.
Team Mom also goes off the 5-meter. Their dive difficulty is increased because they face different directions while going off the platform. David gives them a 7.50 and Steve gives them a 6.00.
Brandi and Nicole's Average Score: 6.75
Host Charissa Thompson listens to the judges with team divers Brandi Chastain and Nicole Eggert.
After Brandi and Nicole's dive, host Charissa Thompson challenges the judges to do a pair dive. David immediately agrees and rips off his clothing to reveal his Speedo, but Steve declines. Coach Greg Louganis steps up, tears away his clothing, and reveals a Speedo matching David's. David and Greg, the only two U.S. men to win the 10-meter Olympic gold in the last 25 years, show everyone how it's done Olympian style!
Olympians David Boudia and Greg Louganis talk to host Charissa Thompson after their synchronized dive.
Then the third diving team is up. Greg has paired up Drake Bell and Katherine Webb and challenged them with performing a javelin dive! Drake has to hold Katherine above his head as they dive into the pool.
Drake Bell lifts fellow diver Katherine Webb as they prepare to perform a javelin dive.
The crowd is cheering wildly after Drake and Katherine's javelin dive, and the judges are impressed. David confesses that the javelin dive terrifies him before ripping open his shirt and revealing the "10" painted on his chest. It's Splash's very first 10.00! Steve rates their dive an 8.50.
Drake and Katherine's Average Score: 9.25
David Boudia (quoting Miracle): "'Great moments are born from great opportunity,' and that's what we have here tonight!"
Finally, it's time for Kendra Wilkinson and Rory Bushfield to dive. Kendra's fear of heights paired with Rory's absolute fearlessness makes them an interesting match.
Kendra seems shaky and unsure on the platform. After several minutes of tense deliberating, Kendra seems to completely lose her nerve. Rory beseeches her not to walk away, but she just can't go through with it. She starts to descend from the platform, and host Joey Lawrence informs her if she doesn't dive, she'll be out of the competition.
Kendra seems relieved after getting back on solid ground, and Charissa informs the other divers they're all safe because Kendra is out.
