After a few great weeks in Los Angeles, I had an amazing group of women and it was time to hit the road. I think it’s safe to say I’m an All-American man and there’s something about the great outdoors that really makes me feel like I’m in my element. That said, I can’t think of a better place to start our journey around the world than Whitefish, Montana.
I had never been to Montana before and I was pretty excited to explore, but to be honest, as soon as I arrived to The Lodge at Whitefish Lake, I was completely blown away. My room has an unbelievable view of the lake, the air was clean and crisp, and the sunsets were completely spectacular.
As much as I could have just been happy tucking into my room and watching some football, I was feeling very ready to get to know these women better on some pretty spectacular dates.
My first date was with Lindsay. She has an amazing energy and had been so patient up to that point, so I was glad to be able to surprise her with something special: one of the most bad-ass helicopters in the world. We got in and took off and got to see Montana from a bird’s eye view. The vistas were out of this world and when we landed at glacier lake, I think we really both felt like we were on top of the world, both literally and figuratively.
I know Lindsay would have been fine if the date ended there but we still had so much more to learn about each other. I loved our dinner at the Lodge and I was pretty thrilled to take her into downtown Whitefish to surprise her with a performance by Sarah Darling. It seemed as if the entire town had come out to join us. Everyone was so friendly, it felt like we were instantly a part of the community. The performance was great and the energy of the entire event was electrifying. Lindsay was the perfect girl for this perfect first date in Montana.
The next date was the group date: a little less romance but a lot of fun and a really cool way to get to know Montana on a more intimate level. The relay race was the kind of thing you have to do once before you die. It took some of the fun activities you can do in Montana and kind of jammed them into one: canoeing, logging, goat-milking. Who gets to do this? Watching the girls battle it out was pretty fun and they really went after it. They were good sports and I am always looking for that in a partner. Desiree, by the way, gets huge props for drinking that milk. Way to go.
That night, the women and I got to have a more laidback evening at Casey’s Pub in downtown Whitefish. This is a perfect “me” kind of environment. Cool couches, dim lights, pool tables. It really is like what a night out back in Dallas with my wife could be like. Of course I felt bad for the women back home so I asked them to join in. This caused some drama of course but I still really feel like it was the best thing for everyone. The girls were super gracious about it in the end.
As much as I wanted to spend as much time as I could with each girl, I think it’s normal to dread the 2 on 1 date. Tierra and Jackie were both such awesome women, so as worried as I was, I at least knew we could all have a good time. We hopped on some horses at the Bar W Guest Ranch and headed up the mountain to a really cool campground. There, we all got to hang out and relax and get to know each other even better.
Eventually, I had to send one of the women home and that had to be Jackie. It was hard to say goodbye but she’s an amazing woman and I know she’ll find the man for her.
This week in Montana was amazing and I do expect to come back sometime soon, but for now, it’s off to Canada to explore a little bit more of the world.
