If you haven’t finished all your holiday shopping by now and are feeling a little anxious, Daphne’s got some simple do it yourself gift ideas that are sure to fill your home with holiday cheer.  Best of all each gift costs under one dollar!

Lip Balm

Everything You Need:
2 tablespoons Beeswax
2 tablespoons coconut oil
2 tablespoons shea butter
Essential Oil
Double Boiler
Container for finished product
Eye Dropper

How To Make It:

We’re going to start with beeswax lip balm. You wont believe how easy this is.

First we’ve melted down about two tablespoons of beeswax in a double boiler. You can get beeswax at some specialty food stores and most craft stores.

Next, mix in two tablespoons each of coconut oil and shea butter. Mix this up until everything is incorporated, and then add five to ten drops of your favorite essential oil.

To finish them off take a medicine dropper and fill your container, and once it hardens it’s ready to use.

Total cost: 30 cents per container!

Sea Salts

Everything You Need:
Epsom Salts or Sea Salts
Glycerin
Essential Oils
Mixing Bowl
Cellophane Bags
Spoon

How To Make It:
It’s so simple, just start by pouring epsom or sea salts into a mixing bowl and add about a teaspoon of glycerin then mix. Glycerin is a great skin moisturizer and a perfect addition for these bath salts.

Next add the essential oil of your choice.  Only add a few drops at a time so you don’t overpower the mix.

Mix the salts thoroughly, and divide the mix into cellophane bags.

To finish them off, just add a small spoon to scoop out your salts and a ribbon on top.

Total cost: 56 cents per box!

Pear Jam

Finally, a delicious gift straight from the kitchen is homemade pear jam.  Pears taste great and are good for you.

Once it’s done take some baby jars and fill them with your jam.  You can then personalize them with a special handwritten label.

Total cost: 97 cents per jar
