Mario Batali, one of the most recognized and respected chefs in America today, is a co-host of ABC Daytime’s lifestyle series The Chew, seated alongside fellow restaurateur and Iron Chef America star Michael Symon, Top Chef alum Carla Hall, entertaining expert Clinton Kelly and health and wellness enthusiast Daphne Oz.
Batali counts 24 restaurants, nine cookbooks, numerous television shows and the 50,000-square foot Eataly marketplace in NYC among his ever-expanding empire of deliciousness. In September 2013, Mario and his business partner, Joe Bastianich, will open B&B Burger & Beer in The Venetian Hotel & Casino, their fourth restaurant in Las Vegas. The casual 120-seat space will feature bright colors and more than 20 televisions for sports fans.
Mario is also the author of nine cookbooks including the James Beard Award Winning, Molto Italiano: 327 Simple Italian Recipes; New York Times Bestseller Mario Batali Italian Grill; and Molto Batali: Simple Family Meals form My Home to Yours.
For their dad’s fiftieth birthday, Mario’s sons, Benno and Leo, compiled a cookbook of the recipes they prepare as a family during their summers in Northern Michigan. In May 2013, the boys took their tome to the masses with The Batali Brothers Cookbook.
As a TV personality, Batali has hosted a variety of television shows for Food Network, including “Ciao America” and “Molto Mario.” In the fall of 2008, his PBS series Spain…On the Road Again aired with co-stars Mark Bittman, Gwyneth Paltrow and Spanish actress Claudia Bassols. Batali is also a frequent guest on Good Morning America and Late Night with Jimmy Fallon.
In 2008 Batali started the Mario Batali Foundation with a mission of feeding, protecting educating and empowering children.
Batali splits his time between New York City’s Greenwich Village and Northern Michigan with his wife and their two sons.
