America, Tax Day has arrived, and with it comes heightened stress. According to a recent Gallup poll, Tax Day is the second most stressful day of the year (behind Christmas). We are so desperate to pinch a few pennies that All You magazine surveyed 2,600 women between the ages of 21 and 59 and found that 50% of women would give up sex for 6 months if it meant saving $2,500! No joke.
Before resorting to such drastic measures, here are three simpler tips to help you pocket some extra cash:
Eat Fresh Produce Seasonally: Produce that is not in season is extremely expensive due to the fact that it is grown further away and then transported to your grocery store. If you refrain from purchasing fruit and vegetables that are not in season, then you will easily save some cash. Take-Away: Eat seasonally and supplement with frozen goods.
Avoid Pre-Made Mixes: Make pancake and waffle mixes from scratch and you’ll save up to 80% of the cost of the store-bought mix.
Invest in Freezer Paper: Plastic lined freezer paper will allow you to individually wrap and store meat and poultry in the freezer for longer periods of time. Bonus: Meat and poultry are perfectly portioned and easy to defrost. Just don’t let your freezer become a black hole – whatever goes in must be used to take advantage of the saving!
