According to new research from Oxford University, the average person spends 51 minutes per day cooking in the kitchen. Life can get busy, though, and you may not always have 51 minutes to whip up a winning dinner dish. With this in mind, here are 3 tips to save you time (and sanity) in the kitchen:
1. Know Your Knife
Learning how to properly handle your knife can trim minutes off simple tasks. Also, remember to use the right tool for the job, like a serrated knife to cut tomatoes.
2. Clean As You Cook
Avoid saving all the cleanup until the meal is over. Keep a trash can near your prep area so you can discard scraps as you go and cut after dinner chores in half.
3. Make a Sunday Sauce
Take advantage of the weekends and prep ahead for the week to come. Consider preparing a tomato or pesto sauce on Sunday and freezing it. Pull out your sauce during the week as a topping for pasta and consider dinner done.
