1. Questions are Encouraged

Don’t be afraid to speak with your butcher. In fact, ask your butcher for recommendations to see which cuts are freshest and which cuts may offer you the best bang for your buck.

2. Mind the Marbling

Marbling is the intramuscular fat that runs through the meat. Choose a piece of meat with lots of marbling because it provides the cut with a great deal of flavor.

3. Don’t Be Senseless

Use your senses when buying meat – think about scent, firmness, and color. Make sure the piece of steak is red, tender, and smells as it should.

4. Say No to Plastic

Avoid buying shrink wrapped meat, if possible. It is always best to buy straight from your butcher counter.
