More to Chew On: Grocery Shopping Trends

By The Chew Crew September 26th, 2013

Get in on the latest trend in grocery shopping – selling expired produce. The former president of Trader Joe’s, Dough Rauch, is planning to open a new store in Dorchester, MA that will sell food that is “slightly past its sell-by date” at a discounted price as a way to make healthy food more affordable. Why, you ask, would someone attempt to sell expired food? Rauch believes that expiration dates are often misinterpreted and food is still edible past its sell-by date. Rauch’s vision is called The Daily Table and he hopes to open the store next year.

Tell Us What You Think: Is it ok to sell expired produce? Would you shop at Rauch’s new store?
