Just because you’re on a diet doesn’t mean you need to skip great-tasting food.  Today The Chew is sharing all its favorite healthy food with big time flavor.
In honor of this healthy food appreciation we’re going to debunk some food myths particularly about superfoods.  Let’s set the record straight on whether some foods are superfood or just fads.
Gluten Free Pasta: A Fad
About 1.6 million people in the U.S. are on a gluten-free diet even though they haven’t been diagnosed with Celiac disease. Gluten-free foods are loaded with fat as a substitute for gluten, and those on the diet often substitute high-calorie nuts for bread.
Full Fat Milk: Superfood
Several studies showed higher dairy fat intake actually leads to lower body fat levels and less fat gained over time.
Diet Soda: A Fad
University of Texas researchers found that participants in a 10-year study who consumed 2 or more diet sodas a day experienced waist size increases that were 6 times greater than those who didn’t drink diet soda!
Dark Chocolate: Superfood
A recent study concluded that a daily consumption of dark chocolate (40g) can speed up metabolism.
Beans: Superfood
Beans are metabolized slower than other complex carbohydrates, and aid in weight loss by keeping us feeling full without being excessively high in calories.
