Today we’re celebrating foods that go with movies and we’ve got lots of news about just that.

Did you know that movie theaters make an 85% profit on concession stand foods?  Now, one Michigan man is taking a stand.  Joshua Thompson filed a lawsuit against his local AMC theater after the theater announced a ban on bringing outside food and beverages.   Do you bring your own snacks to the movies?

There’s one theater where you definitely won't want to bring your own snacks and that’s Nighthawk.  It’s a restaurant and a theater mixed together.  The menu features such fun and fancy eats at Serrano and ham croquettes and house made pickles.  Check out the Serious Eats review.

For those of us stuck with the standard popcorn and a soda there are a few health tips you might want to keep in mind.  Earlier this year Consumer Reports took a look at the foods most commonly found at theaters, including popcorn, pretzels, soda, and nachos. They found that most of these foods have more calories and fat in one order than you should have in a whole day.  See the report here.
