On today’s Cinco de Mayo party, The Chew Crew celebrates with a Mexican tradition of cracking confetti-filled eggs on their heads. Similar to Easter eggs, these festive eggs are common in Latin America. They are decorated and filled with confetti, and cracked on a recipients head at celebration time. Though it may seem unfortunate to be covered in glitter for the rest of the day, to have an egg cracked on your head is considered a sign of good luck.
After cracking one on an audience member’s head, and having their fair share cracked on themselves, the co-hosts are grateful that these Cinco de Mayo eggs were not real eggs. If Daphne had pulled a fast one and managed to crack a real egg on Michael’s head, we’re almost certain that an egg fight would have broken out!
