Geoffrey Zakarian's Flambeed Bananas with Whiskey Vanilla Sauce

  • 3 Bananas
  • 1/2 cup Sugar
  • 1/3 cup Maker's Mark Whiskey
  • 1/4 cup Soft Butter
  • 1 Vanilla Bean (scraped)
  • 1 zest of 1 Orange
  • Coconut Ice Cream

  • Cut the bananas lengthwise and set aside. In a saucepan, melt the sugar to a dry caramel.  Once you reach a nice golden brown color, between 2 to 6 minutes, add the butter. Deglaze with whiskey.
  • Add the vanilla seeds and orange zest, then add the bananas and simmer for about 3 to 5 minutes. Carefully remove the bananas. Set onto a plate and serve warm with ice cream on the side, spoon sauce over top.
