Actor Biography

Rarmian Newton, born in Melbourne, is a graduate of the Victorian College of the Arts Secondary School. He has starred in the US tele-movie Nightmares & Dreamscapes as Bobby Fornay, and in 2006 he played the young Peter Allen in The Boy From Oz, which starred Hugh Jackman. In 2006, he portrayed Simon in the stage production of The Jacaranda Tree. Among other achievements, Rarmian also appeared in a short-film titled Gusto, directed by Craig Irvin and produced by the Victorian College of Arts. 

In 2007, Newton was cast as Billy in Billy Elliot the Musical (Australia) as one of the four boys playing Billy, and all four of the original Australian Billy’s jointly won the 2007 “Best Actor in a Musical” at the Sydney Theatre Awards on January 21, 2008. They also won the Helpmann Awards in 2008 as “Best Actor in a Musical” and “Best Dancer in a Musical” in 2009 at the Australian Dance Awards

In 2010, Newton starred as Tumblebrutus in CATS for the Really Useful Group. In 2011, he appeared in three episodes of the hit Australian series Dance Academy as Michael Slade. 

One of the early highlights of Newton’s career was in 2012 when he won an international casting as the lead role of Hiccup in the Dreamworks/RZO International Arena Tour of How to Train your Dragon. In 2013, he appeared in the Dr. Blake Mysteries in a guest role, Paul. Newton also has recently appeared as Young Garry in the highly successful INXS exposé Never Tear Us Apart

Newton will appear in the upcoming feature Break it Down as Ben Smart – the young West Australian who took on the world and won the World Line Dancing Championships three times and over 50 international awards.

He splits his time between the Australia and the US.
