Sue HeckPlayed by Eden Sher
Sue is the only daughter of Frankie and Mike Heck. While middle children might be known for being passed over, we're pretty sure you won't forget about Sue. She tries really hard to find her niche, but she can't help but fail spectacularly at everything she tries. But she fails so huge and puts so much into every effort, you won't be able to help rooting for her, because one day she's going to make her mark.
Eden Sher, a Critics Choice Award-winning actress, stars as Sue Heck, the socially awkward daughter on ABC's The Middle. Going into its ninth season, audiences have delightedly watched this character attempt to navigate her teen years and continue to grow and evolve every year.
On the big screen, Sher most recently starred in The Outcasts (2017), alongside Victoria Justice, Peyton List and Ashley Rickards. She also starred in the films Imagigary (2015), directed by Charlie McDermott, and Temps (2016), directed by Ryan Sage and starring Chris Bauer and Tony Revolori. She recently wrapped production on the Broad Green Pictures film Step Sisters, which will be released later this year.
Notably known for her work on ABC's Sons & Daughters, she has also been featured in Starz' Party Down, ABC Family's The Middleman, Disney Channel's Sonny With a Chance and Showtime's Weeds. Past film credits include Veronica Mars (2014), alongside Kristen Bell. When not on-screen, Sher is the voice of Disney XD's Star Butterfly in the hit animated series Star vs. the Forces of Evil.
Outside of acting, Sher used her love of words and emotion to create www.the-emotionary.com, a website/tumblr/twitter dedicated to the creation of words for complex feelings that have not yet been discovered. The site, which gave definitions, quips and musings and invites visitors to submit their own creations, has been made into a book, titled "The Emotionary: A Dictionary of Words that Don't Exist for Feelings That Do," which was published last year.
Bringing help to much needed people across the world, Sher recently spent two summers volunteering in Nicaragua with Al Campo International, helping local farmers maintain sustainable agriculture through clean water irrigation. She also enjoys yoga, hiking, reading and music.
Sher currently resides in Los Angeles.
