"The View" Co-hosts Address Giuliana Rancic's "Fashion Police" Comment on Zendaya Coleman's Hair

By Marisa Dabney | Feb 25th, 2015

On the February 24th 2015 episode of The View the co-hosts discussed a major Fashion Police fashion faux pas.  The E! network show co-host Giuliana Rancic made a comment about Disney star Zendaya Coleman's new hair style. The young actress rocked dreadlocks on the Oscar 2015 red carpet.  Giuliana joked on the Fashion Police red carpet special that Zendaya probably smelled of patchouli and weed. Zendaya responded to the offensive comments on Twitter and Giuliana apologized shortly after via social media.

The View co-host followed up on this report on the February 25th 2015 episode after Giuliana Rancic made an on-air apology. She is deeply sorry about her comments which not only upset Zendaya but also her Fashion Police co-host Kelly Osbourne. It was recently reported that after Giuliana made the offensive comments on-air Kelly threatened to leave the show if the producers and Giuliana did not make a public apology to Zendaya. The View co-hosts addressed the fall out again during Hot Topics in the video below.

Kelly Osbourne was also very offended by the comment, that dreads made Zendaya look like she smells of patucholi and weed, and threatened to quit the show if an apology was not issued.

One noted difference about the Fashion Police coverage of the Oscar 2015 red carpet was the absence of Joan Rivers.  Sadly, the Comedian passed away in the Fall of 2014 making the the 87th Annual Academy Awards red carpet the first tackled by the new Fashion Police team.  The controversial comment led The View co-hosts to wonder if Joan would have gotten away with such a comment. Whoopi touched upon it on the February 24th 2015 show and the co-host continued the debate in the video below.

Can "Fashion Police" Be Bold Without Joan Rivers|Hot Topic: Fashion Faux Pas Pt. 2|"The View" co-hosts debate if the E! channel show "Fashion Police" can make bold statements and jokes, like Joan Rivers used to, without recieving backlash.
