tuesdays 8/7c Latest Full Episode: A Bright New Day
V - Appearances are deceiving in "V," a thrilling new drama series about the world's first alien encounter. With huge spaceships simultaneously appearing over 29 cities around the world, the Visitors (or V's) seem to promote a message of peace. Through their generous offer to share advanced technology, the V's quickly build a following that may be overlooking a more malevolent agenda. The premiere of "V," from Warner Bros. Television, airs TUESDAY, NOV. 3 (8:00-9:00 p.m., ET), on ABC. (ABC/DAVID GRAY)MORENA BACCARIN

The Visitors have arrived.

"We are of peace. Always."
FBI Counterterrorism Agent Erica Evans (the always rockin’ Elizabeth Mitchell of Lost) stares in disbelief at one of the 29 massive alien ships hovering over the major cities of the world. Erica makes her way through the panicked streets of New York to find her troubled teenage son, Tyler (Logan Huffman), just as a video image of Visitor’s High Commander, Anna (Morena Baccarin), fills the sky. For an alien, Anna looks pretty darn human (i.e. stunningly beautiful) as she soothingly says, “Don’t be frightened. We mean you no harm.” The word you’re looking for is “whew!”

The Visitors need water and a mineral which is abundant on Earth to survive. In exchange, they’ll share their technological advances, including cures for the sick. Anna’s closing words, “We are of peace, always” brings cheers from the masses. The people of Earth embrace the V’s (that’s their nickname) as there are 65 ailments they can cure. Life on Earth is good, right? Not so fast.
"No one is saying don't trust the Visitors, but don't they need to earn our trust?"

At St. James’ Church, Father Jack Landry (Joel Gretsch) is skeptical as he addresses his suddenly plentiful flock. But even Father Jack is amazed when a wheelchair-bound member of his congregation can suddenly walk after a visit to a Visitor Healing Center. These places give new meaning to the term “universal” health care. Father Jack’s doubts return when a gravely-injured man claims to know the real reason the V’s are here. The man gives Father Jack an envelope and makes him promise to attend a secret meeting.

Does Erica's revolt stand a chance?

Does Erica and Father Jack's plan to fight the Visitors' secret invasion have any hope, given how much the Vs have infiltrated Earth already?

I think it will work but they will need to be careful about who to trust and how they proceed with the plan.

It had better, or this will be a very short series. As to comparisons between this and the miniseries, they are bound to occur. But I remember that TV evolved from the stage. I cannot begin to tell you how many times I've seen Shakespeare's Hamlet over my 53 years of life. I saw the miniseries, and I liked it. It had flaws and the FX will appear primitive to what can be done today. Marc Singer and Robert Englund were unique and both went on to fame and fortune. Of this series, it has promise, but as in all things only time will tell.

just watched this online...wonderful show...and duh he revolt stands a chance for Three reasons: 1. She is a main character and more main characters are for the Resistance than for the Ambassadors. 2. Her son is an ambassador, making a really good story line as the V's will use the son to get to the mother. 3. If there was no revolt, the show would not make it more than a few shows. For every story there is always a Hero and a Vilain, no story is complete without both.

Other web sites allow people to see the shows online, why do you wait a whole week before you post it? I didn't feel the V series needed a remake. Diana was pretty fabulous and even without computers that series was beyond compare, but so far so great. I did like the first episode, altough I am not too keen on all the characters. Love Joel Gretsch and if Erica and Father Jack team up, things may just work. He carrried the 4400 fabulously. Morena Baccarin is also refreshing. Whatever you do = DO NOT TRY to recreate the old series. You will fail. The original series was absolutely flawless. Go for something new. Visit web sites like ATS and get inspiration from the nutmegs there, but do not copy the old. It's clear the aliens must have an opposition, so resistance is needed, however, if I were to direct the writing team I'd say IMAGINE this is happening now, consider the current state of the world and draw all conclusions from there, as if you lived them. In short, please don't screw up this series, because I really want to like it!!!!!

That's right! In other words... we should take this opportunity to bring forth our technological prowess. It should finally reveal to the world our current technologies were far more advanced than what was known to be true. We need strong and clever technologies on our side to win this. We should infiltrate their ranks. Steal communication technologies and try to call for galactic help. Hell..We may even attract their own predators in their galactic neighborhood to help us out. And hopefully they won't turn against, and make HUMAN KEBAB out of our children when they're done with the Vs.

about as much chance as Incas had against Conquistadores, or Sioux tribes against the U.S. Army. But this is TV, so resistance will continue for as long as ratings keep sustaining it.

I think she would since I'm a fan of the old and she reminds me a lttle like Juliet Parrish but with a twist and toughness. The only thing about show is the ships. I didnt like it when they turned the bottom of the ship into a large flat screen.

It is amazing how quickly two people will abandon the institutions they have given their lives to and organize a pseudo insurgency. And after only what amounts to a minor betrayal (The FBI's partner was a V, and the head priest at the church doesn't seem to want to listen to the minor priest.) It's not like they have encountered complete opposition at any higher levels in their respective bureaucracies. So because V is in THAT world, I say the show hinges on the "revolt" standing a chance. Normal FBI anti-terrorism agents would say, "We got to notify the FBI about what we've seen here tonight." But I guess not this rogue agent and this priest.

Look at it from their prospective, Erica finds out they have infiltrated all goverments, law enforcement, military, and religion on every level. She doesnt know who to trust now, even her own partner tried to kill her. What would you do? Go to your superiors and tell them what happened? They may be one of them. She knows the truth now, and she knows that makes her a target.

You better believe there is something I can do, and will do. And so will thousands of the rest of us.. we'll fight back against these foreign 'invaders' that are ruining our country. I think this is a clever way to get the word out since most lemmings are too busy watching fiction to pay attention to the gov't taking away their rights.... maybe they will 'get' this!

If this were all real, I would say not a chance. But the Human race can't go out with out a fight. We have always struggled and fought. Even if it's a last stand, its going to cost the visitors dearly!

It's a t.v. show so, yes, the revolt stance a chance. If this was of true reality, no, because of techological differences. In a reality situation, the Visitors would never have to leave their mother ships and just destroy cities one at a time until Earth surrendered. They need something big. Something to raise awareness to the masses about what the Visitor's real intentions are.

I remember watching the first one through the entire series, It started out strong but I think the writers struggled to come up with original stories and plot's about halfway through the series. I will watch these hoping these writers will do better, Aside from the independence say giant alien ship's hovering over the city scene, It's a very good start, thank god we have better special effects in this day and age, I think I will enjoy following the series :)

First, regarding commercials: Tonight's episode (11/10/09) was about 43 minutes plus commercials, which about average (42–44 minutes of program per hour of broadcast time). I am sadly disappointed that the authors decided to go with the tired old "dangerous deceptive aliens" motif. The pilot opened with great promise that the intentions of the V's would be kept ambiguous, which would be much more interesting, and could allow lots of exploration of human suspiciousness and rushing to judgment — in other words, exploring the human condition, what science fiction does when it's written as literature rather than pablum. A great creative opportunity missed. Really too bad.

In reality, definitely not. On tv, of course otherwise the Earthers would be way too uncomfortable. Reality is difficult.

anime_angel0

Definitely! An FBI agent and a priest? They should do fine. And if it is anything like the original then looks are deceiving. I mean, the leader of the Resistance in the original was a small, petite woman the hero kept calling a "kid." So why not?

bonzeyed

I don't think any of us have a chance trying to make it through all of the commercial breaks.

sbordian

Yes, but I'd estimate there will be at least 70% loss of gross global population. (Now if this were real humanity would be extinct within a week.)

gbj_1

Personally, I think it would be far more suspenseful if FBI Agent Erica, and Father Jack's covert plans run into rapid and intense dramatic snags; keeping the characters and us " V "iewers totally off balance, to the point of building frustration, and fear! Adding a hint toward the Visitors wanting to keep us Earthlings healthy, fat, dumb and happy because, eliminating the stress in our lives makes Humanity more tender and much tastier... GBJ

CovertMillionaire

Erica's revolt will stand a chance if she is a long term player. She would have to be smart and infiltrate them like they infiltrated earth. Her best plan would be to become an ambassador for "V" that way she can get in on the inside and find their weakness.

I beleive fiction, by its very nature, is capable of any outcome. It's my hope that the writers are capable of entertaining us with a fascinating story line. I liked the pilot show and will be watching.

Retian61

Its highly possible with the help of the underground alliance of the V traitors, and V friends (they know internally what weaknesses, or ways to cause problems within their structure), who are helping the cause with humans. Its too bad to not get more background on where the V's come from, or their culture...etc...

This episode was even better than the first. The music was perfect and the glimpse into Anna's more sinister side was interesting! Also, seeing the coolest actor from the Extreme Days movie as a visitor was a plus!! Yes, they stand a chance especially if they can get enough people to join the resistance.

W/o molesting the original series, yes. Like was said, there will be a lot of casualties, ups & downs, and trials to go through. Especially now that her former partner knows she knows. He should of kept his identity under wraps though. But was a nice twist all the same. I have the original series on DVD, and this one not only fits the times, but has a lot of what does not go with the original. I guess we shall see what the rewrites do. Hopefully it doesn't screw it all up, like some do.

The problem with today's V, and it may have happened before is how this station is taking breaks. At 8:36 there was a commercial until 8:41 Then at 8:46 another commercial Then the show aired for a while 2 minutes.... then another commercial. All together there were 5 commercials bring total minutes of commercials to approx. 20 minutes. I have never seen commercials run like the above... thus the reason why I will NOT watch another episode. Nuff Said

The time allotted for commercials on all shows always accumulates to around 20 minutes for "hour-long" shows.

These characters erica and father jack has the same ability exercising there patriotism attitude and discipline to do what it takes to protect there government, there world and family. The first episode came across as ambivalent to some of the major themes the first series was built around. Only the last 10 minutes seemed entertaining and focused. Everthing before then seemed to move very fast in a disjointed manner, that seems to show a contempt for patience. V'09 doesnt seem as captivating as V'83. Then again, I'm 40 and not 14 so it's very unfair for me to compare the two. I'm a much more critical viewer these days and I doubt if tv these days has the courage to deal with everythin V83 thew at us....abortion, racism, genocide, the subversion of democracy all while Marc Singer was running around wearing tight tight tight jeans lol. I'll continue to watch the show because it has potential. But regardless of how the story line goes, one things does stand out compared to some of my other favorite shows....Except for 'Anna' Most everyone else in V'09 seems like their..well...acting in the most rhetorical way. I did love the reference to the 'ugly visitor' in the pilot. But what about ugly earthlings? Everyone just seems too darn pretty to maintain the suspension of disbelief.

Dorianne_1

There was-and also a series of books-lol despite the years I keep thinking about the two original leads-character names Julie who was a doctor and leader of the underground, Mike Donavon and his son Shaun who was taken by the aliens after joining their youth movement-a teenage rebellious girl in love with one of the "v's-don't remember her name but Mike Donavon's mom liked the male leader of the V's Stephen I think-and the female lead visitor was Diana-there were more of course-but I liked the books about as much and had them all at one point-although the only two titles I remember right now is the original V and V-East Coast Crisis.

Sure they got a chance, if they didn't the show wouldn't have a chance either! I found the first episode remotely interesting, the story is engaging, but the acting and directing is painfully dull. I mean really unreasonably simplistic, and they only made it worse in the end of the episode - now there's no mysteries left to be explored, from this point on it's just a straightforward and predictable "fight for humanity." *sigh* I'm gonna watch it anyway : P

Erica and Father Jack need to realize that revolting will only cause them harm. If they want to communicate with us diplomatically they can. Regrettably there is much they we cannot explain to them because their ideological systems are based in antiquated Earthly hierarchical forms of consciousness. They know know very little of intergalactic politics and the nature of the Universe. How are we supposed to intelligently communicate with a priest who likely believes we are demons. He is operating from an ancient text that had a very definite purpose to gain power during a very specific time in history. Erica needs to pay more attention to being a mother and listening to her son. It is strange how the older humans get the more settled in the irrational thinking. Life and the universe is in flux. Drastic measures must be taken in order to preserve the balance.
