Where can I watch my ABC shows?

You can also stream live TV to enjoy your favorite ABC shows, local news or major events like The Oscars, LIVE!**

If you subscribe to ABC through one of our participating TV providers (and your subscription is in good standing). you have access to additional content.

Can I watch content on ABC.com and the ABC app if I'm outside the U.S.?

No - ABC.com and the ABC mobile & TV streaming app content are  only available if you're physically located within the U.S. or its territories (including Puerto Rico, Guam, Saipan, American Samoa, U.S. Virgin Islands).

What is the ABC app?

The ABC app is a single destination to enjoy your ABC shows on your schedule. With the app, you can watch full episodes of ABC shows you know and love and stream live TV on smartphones, tablets, your computer and over-the-top devices. It puts access to the network right into your hands - at home, or on-the-go.

Yes, Chromecast is currently supported on Apple iPhone, iPod, and iPad, and Android phone & tablet devices.

Can I stream my iOS device to my Apple TV using AirPlay?

Yes, AirPlay is currently supported on Apple iPhone, iPod, and iPad, and Safari web browser for Mac.

How do I access full episodes on demand?

ABC.com & the ABC apps on mobile, tablet, and connected TV devices  feature hundreds of full episodes from your favorite shows, movies, and specials. Many of these episodes are free to watch while others require verifying your participating TV provider account.

If you have not yet verified your participating TV provider, full episodes have the lock symbol or VERIFY TO WATCH label. episodes can be found on the homepage of ABC.com, the home screens of the ABC apps, and in the shows section.

If you have already verified your participating TV provider, all episodes are unlocked to view, and streaming will begin playing back in your web browser, mobile, tablet, or TV streaming device.

When do new episodes get added to ABC.com & the ABC apps?

New episodes are typically added the day after they air on TV. Access to the most recently aired full episodes may require verifying your participating TV provider account. The locked episode for many shows will become available to watch without verifying a participating TV provider account 8 days after the episode first airs on TV.

The lock symbol, and Verify to Watch label identify which episodes require you to verify your participating TV provider account. 

I can't find the episode that I was watching anymore.

The episode or program may have expired and is no longer available on ABC.com, or on the ABC mobile & TV streaming apps. If it has expired, we unfortunately no longer have the rights to distribute it online.

Where is live streaming available?

The ABC live stream is currently available in the following areas with a participating TV provider: Chicago, Fresno, Houston, Los Angeles, New York City, Philadelphia, Raleigh-Durham and San Francisco.

Customers with a DirecTV subscription in the following markets will also be able to watch the ABC live stream: Albuquerque, Boston, Ft. ABC live streaming is included with your TV subscription service. The ABC live stream for your local station is determined by your physical location. Why doesn't the live stream match what's on my live TV broadcast?

The content programming in the ABC live stream may differ from what's on your TV screen. Program substitutions may apply.

Why am I required to provide my location when live streaming?

We require you to enable location services to determine if you are physically located in an area where live streaming is available. 

How do I turn off Closed Captioning?

Closed Captioning (CC) is available for all video-on-demand (VOD) full episodes. Most live streaming programming also has Closed Captioning available.

Follow these steps below to turn Closed Captioning ON or OFF:

  1. 1.     Swipe down on your Apple remote touch surface to open the Accessibility Menu.

    2.     Swipe right on your Apple remote touch surface to highlight "Subtitles".

    3.     Swipe down on your Apple remote touch surface to turn Closed Captioning ON & OFF.

    4.     To Exit, swipe up on your Apple remote touch surface to close the Accessibility Menu.

What is a TV provider?

A TV provider is the company you pay in order to get your television service, like a cable company, a satellite company, or a telco (also called a telecommunications company).

To view participating TV providers available in your area, and to link your TV provider account, visit ABC.com, or the ABC mobile, tablet, and TV streaming apps and select any episode with the lock symbol, VERIFY TO WATCH label or the LIVE section. If your TV provider is not listed, don't worry; we're working hard to add more TV providers in the near future, and you can still watch hundreds of full episodes without verifying a TV provider account.

Why am I asked to verify, sign in, or link my TV provider?

In order to access the ABC live stream, and some on-demand content, you must verify your participating TV provider account.

What does the lock symbol or Verify to Watch mean on shows & episodes?

The lock symbol, and Verify to Watch label identify which episodes require you to link your participating TV provider account. Locked episodes for many shows will become available to watch without verifying your participating TV provider account 8 days after the episode first airs on TV.

Does ABC access my participating TV provider account information?

ABC does not access your username, password, email address, or any other information about your participating TV provider account.

Do I need to verify my TV provider account every time I use the ABC app?

In most cases, there is no need to re-enter your TV provider username & password after the first time you sign in. Some TV providers may require you to re-verify your account after a predetermined time period.

What if I forgot my TV provider username of password?

If you have forgotten your TV provider username or password, you can retrieve your account information directly from your TV provider's help and support site. You can also register for a new user ID from your TV provider on their support site.

How do I sign out of my TV provider?

On ABC.com:

To sign out, follow the steps below:

  1. Select Account in the top navigation.
  2. Select option to SIGN OUT [TV provider].
  3. Confirm that you want to sign out by selecting SIGN OUT.
  4. Please note that if you sign out, you will have to repeat the activation process the next time you access the live stream and some on demand content.

On Mobile & Tablet:

To sign out, follow the steps below:

  1. Go to the ACCOUNT section in the ABC app.
  2. Select option for MANAGE.
  3. On the TV provider screen, select the option to SIGN OUT.
  4. Please note that if you sign out, you will have to repeat the activation process the next time you access the live stream and some on demand content.

On a streaming device:

To sign out, follow the steps below:

  1. Go to the Account section in the ABC app.
  2. Select option for TV provider.
  3. On the TV provider screen, select the option to SIGN OUT.

If I have a participating TV provider, and can access the live stream, can I always view the latest episode on-demand?

Geographic restrictions may apply. In some cases, your participating TV provider may not support all on-demand features even though you can access the Live stream.

If I have a participating TV provider at home, but travel to another place, can I always view the live stream?

Geographic restrictions may apply. TV providers and live streaming vary by location. In some cases, your participating TV provider may not be available in your destination. Or the local station in your area is not yet included in the live stream.

What if my TV provider and Internet provider aren't the same? Which one do I use?

On demand & live streaming on ABC.com and the ABC apps require linking your TV provider. If your TV provider is different than your internet provider, please use your TV provider username & password, and not your internet provider.

How do I view participating TV providers?

To view the latest list of participating TV providers,visit ABC.com, or the ABC app on mobile, tablet, or TV streaming device, and select an episode with the Lock symbol or VERIFY TO WATCH label. You can also go to the LIVE section.

What if my TV provider is not listed?

We are continually adding new cable, satellite, and other TV providers. To view participating TV providers available in your area, and to link your TV provider account, visit ABC.com, or the ABC mobile, tablet, and TV streaming apps and select any episode with the Lock symbol, VERIFY TO WATCH label or the LIVE section. If your TV provider is not listed, don't worry; we're working hard to add more providers in the near future, and you can still watch hundreds of full episodes without linking a TV provider account.

Why is video playback stalling, choppy, or not playing?

Video delivery may be disrupted due to Internet provider network congestion, a poor Internet connection, or when too many Internet connected devices are connected to the same network at the same time.


Please try one or all of the following:

1.     Check your internet download speed. Internet download speeds should be 1.5 Mbps or faster. Your Wi-Fi or mobile signal indicator does not correlate to your download speed. There are a number of websites & apps where you can conduct a free "internet speed test"; please search the web for the best option for your device.

2.     Rewind back several minutes in the program you're streaming.

3.     Close the app and open it again.

4.     Disconnect other Internet (e.g. Wi-Fi) connected devices on your network that may be connected at the same time.

5.     Plug your TV streaming device into a wired connection instead of using Wi-Fi.

6.     Restart your device as a last resort.

7.     If the problem persists please contact us via our online feedback form; the web address can be found in the Account > Feedback section of this app.

How do I watch the newest full episodes?

New episodes are typically added the day after they air on TV. Access to the most recently aired full episodes may require verifying your participating TV provider account. The locked episode for many shows will become available to watch without linking a participating TV provider account 8 days after the episode first airs on TV.

If you have already verified your participating TV provider, all episodes are unlocked to view, and streaming will begin playing back in your web browser, mobile, tablet, or TV streaming device.

Where can I watch full episodes if I don't have a participating TV provider account?

If you don't have a subscription with a participating TV provider, or if you have not yet verified your participating TV provider, full episodes that are older than 8 days are often available without a TV provider. episodes can be found on the homepage of ABC.com, the home screens of the ABC apps, and in the shows section.

Many new episodes are also available for purchase on download services such as iTunes, Amazon Instant Video, or with a streaming subscription to Hulu.

If I have a participating TV provider in my area and can access the live stream, can I always view the latest episode on demand?

Geographic restrictions may apply. In some cases, your participating TV provider may not support all on-demand features even though you can access the live stream.

Where is the live stream available?

The ABC live stream for your local station is determined by your physical location. You must verify your participating TV provider, and access the ABC live stream within each available station's local viewing area. Although it's currently available in select U.S. cities, we are working to make it available to all of our viewers. Program substitutions may apply

The ABC live stream is currently available in the following markets: Chicago, Fresno, Houston, Los Angeles, New York City, Philadelphia, Raleigh-Durham and San Francisco with a participating TV provider. Customers with a DirecTV subscription in the following markets will also be able to watch the ABC live stream: Albuquerque, Boston, Ft. Smith/Fayetteville, Jackson (Mississippi), Kansas City, Milwaukee, Monterey-Salinas, Oklahoma City, Omaha, Pittsburgh, Portland-Auburn (Maine), Savannah and West Palm Beach.

How do I Continue Watching an episode from where I left off?

You can always start episodes, movies, and specials from where you left off so long as they remain available to stream. If you're on the same iPhone, iPod, iPad, AppleTV Generation 4, or AppleTV 4k you started watching on, or if you have Apple iCloud syncing enabled on more than one Apple device, there are a few ways to resume from where you left off:

From the Home Screen:

  1. Scroll down to Continue Watching; here you'll find the last 10 episodes, movies, and specials that you haven't finished watching.
  2. Tap on a thumbnail to Continue Watching from where you left off.

From the show details screen:

  1. Go to the specific show, movie, or special details by searching for the name by tapping SEARCH in the bottom navigation, or, browse by name by tapping the show's icon in the bottom navigation.
  2. Find when you've located your show by searching or browsing, tap the show thumbnail, which will take you to specific detail screen for that show.
  3. On the show's detail screen, tap the  thumbnail for the specific the episode, movie, or special Continue Watching where you left off.
I can't find the episode that I was watching anymore.

How do I clear my viewing history?

If you would like to remove your viewing history, including all episodes, movies, and specials from your Continue Watching, please follow these steps:

From the Account section:

1.     Go to the Account screen, via the top navigation.

2.     Navigate to the Viewing History section.

3.     Use your remote to select YES under Clear Viewing History.

4.     Your viewing history will be cleared, along with all content in Continue Watching.

How do I add or remove a show to My List?
