Dre Chooses a Baby Name That Means Something
Dre wants to name their son DeVonté, and despite Bow's initial misgivings about what the unconventional name could mean for their child, Dre's passion and argument for the name convinces her. "The only reason we're not naming our son DeVonté is so people won't know right away that he's Black. I hate the fact that when something is Black, the world sees it as bad," Dre says. "So, if we're going to raise our baby to be proud of who he is, we can't be afraid to give him a name that says, 'This is who I am.'" "Oh, wow," Bow says, "You're right, he shouldn't have to hide." Watch this scene from Season 3, Episode 14, "The Name Game," and don't miss black-ish WEDNESDAYS 9:30|8:30c on ABC.
