Things got a little emotional in the ballroom as Dancing with the Stars season 20 celebrated "Most Memorable Year." Each couple performed to a song of the celebrities choosing that encompasses an unforgettable time, or truly incredible experience in their life. Once again, our hosts Tom Bergeron and Erin Andrews welcomed us back to the ballroom and judges Carrie Ann InabaLen GoodmanJulianne Hough and Bruno Tonioli were on-hand to critique the performances. • After two weeks in a row on top of the leaderboard, Nastia Liukin and Derek Hough have established themselves as major competitors for the season, but could they bring a real emotional connection to their performance tonight? Their Argentine Tango was technically fantastic, but Len still wanted to see more of a connection between the dance partners.

• Next up, Michael Sam and Peta Murgatroyd looked to improve on their scores from the past week and rise in the rankings with an emotional Rumba. Not only was there so much beautiful heart in their dance and improvement in their technique.

• They tied for the top of the leaderboard last week, but Riker Lynch and Allison Holker were hoping to take the top spot for themselves this time with a terrific Tango. The judges felt like there was something missing in their chemistry this time, but the technique was solid.

• Now in their fourth week, Robert Herjavec and Kym Johnson were looking to break out of the middle of the pack with their Waltz dedicated to his late mother. After an emotional interview with Robert about his mom, he and Kym danced beautifully and had the crowd, and the judges, cheering.

• Last week Chris Soules and Witney Carson started to bounce back from the bottom ranks, and they were hoping to keep that momemntum with a Rumba dedicated to Chris' proposal to a whole 'nother Whitney. Unfortunately, the judges felt like Chris' chemistry with THIS Witney left something to be desired.

• Music legend Patti LaBelle and partner Artem Chigvintsev were the bottom of the leaderboard last week, so it was time to step up their game for their Jazz routine. They delivered one of the most fun performances of the season so far and had the crowd and the judges cheering.

Rumer Willis and Valentin Chmerkovskiy have been serious contenders in the competition and they were looking to channel their emotions into a stirring Waltz that would keep them in contention. Once again the judges saw a wonderful performance—though Len wanted more Waltz content—keeping Rumer and Val very much in the hunt.

• Just before performing, Suzanne Somers and Tony Dovolani found out they were safe from elimination, so their Foxtrot dedicated to the late John Ritter became their chance to really improve their standings. The judges loved the performance and the set design was fantastic, but the judges scores stayed in the 7s.

Hunger Games star Willow Shields and her partner Mark Ballas have been going strong so far, and with a Contemporary performance paying homage to the films, they were looking to get even stronger. This week, Willow's warrior came out and the odds were certainly in her favor.

• For the final dance of the night, Noah Galloway and Sharna Burgess danced a Contemporary routine about the year he was injured by a roadside bomb while serving in Iraq. The crowd and the judges were overwhelmed with emotion and astonished—those LIFTS, you guys—making what had to be the most poignant and touching dance of the night.

• Finally, it was time to say goodbye to one more couple. This week, Michael and Peta were eliminated from the competition.
