Actor Biography

Natascha McElhone stars as Alex Kirkman on Designated Survivor. She has starred in numerous films, including The Truman Show with Jim Carrey, The Devil's Own, starring Harrison Ford and Brad Pitt, Ronin with Robert De Niro and Love's Labour's Lost, opposite Kenneth Branagh.

After leaving drama school, McElhone played the lead in her first film, Merchant Ivory's Surviving Picasso, opposite Anthony Hopkins in 1995.

McElhone's other major film credits include Steven Soderbergh's futuristic love story Solaris, with George Clooney, The Secret of Moonacre Manor with Ioan Gruffud, Mrs. Dalloway with Vanessa Redgrave, City of Ghosts with Matt Dillon and Gerard Depardieu, Laurel Canyon with Christian Bale and Francis McDormand, Ladies in Lavendar with Dame Judi Dench and Dame Maggie Smith, The Kid with Bruce Willis, The Theatre of Dreams with Toby Stephens and Brian Cox, and The Sea, in which she starred with Rufus Sewell, Ciaran Hinds and Charlotte Rampling.

McElhone will next be seen in Mr. Church opposite Eddie Murphy and London Town with Jonathan Rhys Meyers.

Natascha McElhone's television credits include seven seasons as Karen, opposite David Duchovny, in the Golden Globe-winning Showtime series Californication. Prior, McElhone starred in the TNT mini-series Revelations and the National Geographic mini-series Saints & Strangers.

In addition to her film and television credits, McElhone recently starred in The Royal Shakespeare's production of Queen Anne. Her other stage credits include Trevor Nunn's production of Fatal Attraction at The Theatre Royal Haymarket, Richard III, A Midsummer Night's Dream, The Count of Monte Cristo, The Cherry Orchard and Honour at Wyndham's Theatre.
