The View welcomed sisters Tai, Rainn, and Brooke Sheppard: Sports Illustrated magazine's 2016 SportsKids of the Year on the show Wednesday, November 23, 2016. These three sisters from Brooklyn became Junior Olympic champions, despite at times living in homeless shelters. Today, their mother Tonia Handy and coach Jean Bell of the Jeuness Track Club joined them as they saw their Sports Illustrated cover for the first time, and received a heartwarming Thanksgiving surprise.
"They always put their best foot forward and I can't ask for more," said their mother of her three daughters.
Nine-year-old Brooke stressed how much the Jeuness Track Club changed her life, "It makes us more responsible and it gives an idea of what's going to happen in the future like getting a scholarship for college."
After the big Sports Illustrated cover reveal, The View co-hosts surprised Coach Bell with a $40,000 donation from Fabletics, Kate Hudson's lifestyle brand, to cover the funding needed for the track club this coming year. The money will go towards covering the dues, uniforms, track rentals, busses and competition fees for the girls.
