In the front yard, Henry is playing with model airplanes. In a flashback, Claire pleads with Sean to speak to her as he packs his bag for a mission; she knows he’s upset. When she inquires about when it became so hard to speak to him, he fires back with the knowledge of her infidelity. He volunteered for a mission without telling her and is set to leave that same night. Back in the present day, Claire’s mother asks her if she’s going to work. Claire tells her that Sean is alive, despite how crazy it may sound. She informs her mother her findings; she needs to find out what is really going on.
Wes listens to the audio from the phone call the moment Sean’s flight crashed. He is interrupted to view the footage from the bombing that involved Jackson Bellings. Watching the footage a second time, Wes sees something that could lead to a clue. Meanwhile, John Doe continues to hold Dr. Benavidez hostage; she is driving him to an undisclosed location. He inquires about the woman who was asking about him: Claire. Minx sees a therapist who tries to convince her that Drill isn’t real. Claire investigates more on John Doe after she finds a receipt with numbers on it. Elsewhere, Wes is trying to figure out John Doe’s next target.
Harper is play-examining her mother, who is still in a coma, when Wes walks in looking for Harper’s father. She asks him if he is going to ask questions like Claire asked her. Leaving the therapist, Lena has Minx wait in the car as she speaks with the therapist. In the car, Drill tries to communicate with Minx but she tells him the therapist says he isn’t real. Upon hearing that, Drill toys with the car stereo to prove he is indeed real. John Doe and Dr. Benavidez stop by a gas station. As the cashier rings them up, Dr. Benavidez slips the cashier Claire’s business card as a cry for help.
The numbers on the receipt lead Claire to a bakery. Later, she goes in and inquires about Sean, but is unsuccessful. The gas station cashier calls Claire’s office but no one is there to pick up. At the last second, Jessup answers and is given the tip that John Doe is there. In the gas station bathroom, John Doe changes his look while Dr. Benavidez looks on, questioning his next move. As Jessup and the FBI head to the gas station, the lights in the bathroom flicker, sending a message to John Doe telling him to run. The warning helps; when Jessup gets there, John Doe and Dr. Benavidez are nowhere to be found.
Claire sneaks to the back entrance of the bakery and speaks to a woman in the kitchen. She asks the woman what the numbers on the receipt mean, but the woman refuses to speak to her. When Claire informs her that she is looking for her husband, the woman softens and reveals the numbers on the receipt are for an account. At a car lot, John Doe steals a vehicle, while a furious Dr. Benavidez asks him what he wants with her. Returning home, Claire discovers Wes is there. Henry overhears Wes say that Sean is back.
Wes and Claire work together and piece what he discovered in speaking with Harper’s father. When Claire talks about the imaginary friend named Drill, Wes tells her that Minx has a friend named Drill. Dr. Benavidez drives John Doe where he wants to go. Seeing an opportunity, she presses hard on the gas and crashes into a tree. Claire turns to Minx for help and asks her questions about Drill. Minx is worried because she knows that Claire is the woman that is causing problems for her parents, but Lena tells her it is ok. She eventually divulges information, which helps Claire and Wes figure out where Sean is headed: the nuclear reactor plant.
Dr. Benavidez escapes from the crashed car and runs toward the plant, yelling for help. Turning around, she sees that John Doe has surfaced and is walking toward her. Seeing he is about to touch the electric fence, she warns him not to, but when he touches it, the electricity goes out. Harper’s father receives a call from a technician from the nuclear reactor. Harper responds for her father assuring him it is ok – this is Drill’s last game for her. Right after she sends the message, Harper sees her mother wake up. Knowing his father is alive, Henry tearfully begs Drill to find Sean and bring him back home.
